One of the first characteristics of aging skin is dryness. People with dry skin tend to have a lack of moisture in the epidermis, resulting in more noticeable lines, itching or even flaking skin. Most, however, do not realize that the frequency of face washing, the temperature of the water used, and also the type of products can have a direct impact on the skin's texture. See below for our customized skincare routine for our dry skin belifers!

Cleanse and tone

Gentle and non-stripping cleansers can be used to melt makeup or deeply clean skin. Double cleanse as an option for extra squeaky-clean skin. Then, apply belif's botanical toners to balance the skin's pH after cleansing.

1) Oil Cleansing

An oil cleanser removes makeup and excess oil build-up that naturally occurs throughout the day. Despite being highly underrated, Korean skincare specialists strongly recommend oil cleansers in order to achieve the squeaky clean effect. You would be surprised by how much dirt can cling onto your skin!

We recommend:
Cleansing Gel Oil Enriched- formulated with winter melon, this gentle cleansing gel can remove heavy makeup effectively yet protect the skin from irritation during cleansing.

2) Foam Cleansing

A foaming cleanser removes water soluble ingredients such as dirt and dust easily picked up from air. This skin type needs to be careful in selecting the cleansing foam, ensuring that it contains high glycerin content. These tend to be creamier in texture, to prevent the skin from drying out. Ensure that cold or luke warm water is used to wash the face as it can further dry out the skin.

We recommend:
Creamy Cleansing Foam- formulated with natural Soapwort, Wormwood and Soapberry, which are rich in Vitamin C, this cleanser gently removes impurities without drying out the skin.

3) Exfoliation

Although some individuals with dry skin may experience flakiness on the skin, it is extremely important to not over-scrub them away. Excessive exfoliation can severely dry out the skin and cause irritation. Limit exfoliation to only once a week and opt for something very mild to prevent damaging the skin capillaries.

We recommend:
Mild & Effective Facial Scrub- formulated with Bracken seeds and cotton fibres, this scrub is extremely suitable for dry skin due to its mild scrubbing components. It will also smooth skin texture and improve product absorption.

4) Toner

Ensure to use a moisturizing toner that can help restore your skin's pH. Toners for dry skin can be viscous by nature as it should add lot of moisture to your skin. You can apply the toner by patting it gently onto the face for optimal absorption.

We recommend:
Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner- formulated with jasmine and witch hazel, this milky toner will provide moisturizing effects on the skin, while strengthening the skin barrier.

Moisturizing is the key

Antioxidant-filled essences help boost the effects of your moisturizer by setting an ultra-hydrating base. Our moisturizers use plant-based ingredients to leave skin looking soft & supple. Don't forget to flood fine lines around the eyes with intense moisture for instantly younger-looking eyes.

5) Essence (Booster Serum)

The skin is made up of the epidermis (outer layer) and the dermis (under layer). Essences are formulated with much more compact water molecules that can penetrate into the skin's dermis. This is ideal for anyone with oily to combination skin as it can plump the skin with water and become instantly hydrated. As a result, skin with higher water content will produce less oil on its surface. Interestingly, an essence can also be used as a booster before the serum to intensify moisture and product absorption.

We recommend:
Hungarian Water Essence - extremely rich in anti-oxidants, this essence can instantly replenish water into the skin. Due to its watery consistency, you can build layers of essence or serum afterwards, making it a great booster serum.

6) Essence/Serum

The skin is made up of the epidermis (outer layer) and the dermis (under layer). The essence will penetrate into the dermis layer and deliver more nutrients for the skin. Serums are made with bigger molecules compared to essences, hence often applied after essences to provide extra hydration and nutrition to improve the skin`s elasticity.

We recommend:
Classic Essence Increment- A nutrient-dense essence that has a consistency of a serum. This product nourishes and hydrates skin to improve skin elasticity, tone, and texture. Clinically tested to bring 24 hours of moisture.

7) Moisturizer

Individuals with dry skin should layer moisturizers in order to achieve the optimal level of hydration on their skin. Used in combination with a cream, the skin can achieve long-lasting protection against environmental aggressors.

We recommend:
Creamy Moisturizer Deep Moist- formulated with witch hazel and molokhia extracts, this moisturizer is rich and nourishing, and can leave the skin a luminous glow.

8) Eye Cream

Frequently neglected, this step is crucial for dry skin type as it targets one of the first areas we see signs of aging. Eye creams are formulated for very fine and fragile skin, and they can prevent the skin surrounding from dehydration. They will also improve the appearance of fine lines over time.

We recommend:
Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream- formulated with Yarrow and Bilberry, this eye cream can provide long-lasting moisture and firmness to the skin.

9) Cream

Individuals with dry skin should opt for a very creamy moisturizer. This ensures that all products used prior to the moisturizer are tightly sealed and that the skin does not experience any moisture loss.

We recommend:
Moisturizing Bomb- formulated with comfrey leaf, this cushiony moisturizing cream can leave the skin smooth, soft and clear, as well as provide long-lasting moisture up 26 hours.

Go the extra miles with masks

Masks are the ultimate skincare essential everyone must have. We believe that this step is equally as important as any other skincare steps we have suggested. They can provide an intense treatment for your skin but most importantly, you can also feel pampered in the comfort of your own home.
